2017 Engage Retreat
September 13th - September 15th, 2017
Students in grades 6-11th will be attending Engage Retreat 2017 at Camp Living Water on September 13-15th. This camp is an interdenominational Bible camp located in Bryson City, NC. With activities such as tubing, swimming, climbing wall, alpine climbing tower, 9-square, volleyball, basketball, soccer fields, hiking, mountain biking and much more, our students and chaperones are sure to stay busy with great outdoor & sports fun!
We are so thankful to Camp Living Water for offering up their camp for such an outstanding price for our HCA students! Where else can you get two nights of all food, all activities, all sessions, AND overnight accommodations for only $69 per person! Camp Living Water and their staff have a heart for young people and a heart for the Lord. Their team is very excited about HCA’s visit to this gorgeous ministry location right on the border of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Here are some details that you will need to know as you prepare to send your tweens and teens on the retreat:
➢ All activities will be well-supervised by camp staff and HCA staff
➢ A chaperone (HCA staff member) will be assigned to each wing. Chaperones will NOT be in rooms with students, but will be positioned at each gender designated wing.
➢ No cell phones will be permitted on the trip. Leave them at home. Limited cell service is available at the retreat and the focus will be on outdoor fun and tuning into God’s word.
➢ HCA chaperone’s cell numbers and the camp office number is included on your information form.
➢ HCA staff will be taking tons of photographs for you! Parents can provide a thumb drive and the office will be happy to download them.
➢ Sending extra spending money is up to you. The Snack Shack and gift shop will be open and has items ranging in price from $2-$25.
➢ Students need to adhere to the HCA dress code. (See Extra-Curricular Activity Dress Code, Student and Family Handbook, p. 70).
➢ Some activities, like tubing or swimming, require water. Girls must wear fingertip length shorts and a t-shirt over their bathing suits at all times. No Soffe shorts allowed. Boys will be asked to wear a shirt with swim trunks. Flip flops are not permitted. Sandals and tennis shoes are appropriate attire.
➢ Student medications will be taken on the trip and will be secured by HCA chaperones.
➢ Limit one overnight bag per student. We have limited space on the buses.
NOTE: Students who are not present for the trip will be counted absent from school. This trip has an important purpose and much prayer and planning has gone into the retreat. We hope that all students will attend. If this trip presents a financial hardship, please let Lisa McClure (email@example.com) know.
